The views from the Curiosity rover just keep getting better and better. The first high-resolution colour mosaic image has just been sent back to Earth and it is stunning.

The mosaic is composed of 79 individual images taken by the rover’s Mastcam cameras. The colours are very close to what a person would see standing on Mars, as the cameras use the same technology in camcorders and cell phones. Black areas are portions of the mosaic where image data is still missing and will be filled in later.
